Igniting Potential: Developing Leadership & Character through Social Action

A free CPD event for church primary schools from the York & Leeds Dioceses, hosted by the Archbishop of York Youth Trust. The morning will explore how teaching staff can use social action to help young people flourish in leadership & character.

Bishopthorpe Palace 9.30am - 12.30pm

Welcoming guest speakers, Dr Tom Harrison & Olivia Seymour, along with staff and pupils from a local primary school who will share their experiences of social action through our Young Leaders Award.

Dr Tom Harrison is Director of Education at the Jubilee Centre for Character and Virtues, University of Birmingham.  His specialist interests include character education and virtue ethics, youth social action and citizenship. Tom will share his wealth of experience and research in Character Education.  

Olivia Seymour is Assistant Director of Education at the Diocese of York with responsibility for church school, Christian distinctiveness, SIAMS, RE and Collective Worship. She supports schools in strengthening their Christian distinctiveness and will be sharing a Biblical and church school perspective on developing leadership and character through social action.
