Free Webinars on Character Education and The Young Leaders Award

This Autumn looks very different for teachers and school staff across the country. Recent months have been a huge test of everyone’s resilience, empathy and creativity, and ongoing uncertainty continues to have an impact on almost every aspect of our lives.

As such, we believe that it’s more important than ever for schools to help pupils navigate these challenges through well planned, intentional and explicit character education.

To help, the Youth Trust are running Free Twilight Webinars focussing on an Introduction to Character Education, along with Dr Tom Harrison from the Jubilee Centre for Character and Virtues.

The 40 min webinars will explore:

  • the case for Character Education and why it has become more high profile in recent years
  • what we mean by Character Education
  • where Character Education sits in the curriculum and the DfE Framework Guidance
  • how social action/volunteering and structured programmes such as the Young Leaders Award can be used as a vehicle to develop character
  • further sources of support and information for developing effective Character Education in your school

We’re also hosting a series of webinars focussing on each of our Young Leaders Award, from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 4/+16. Find out more about the Young Leaders Awards and how it can develop your pupils’ character and leadership skill through the YLA.

This 40 min session will explore:

  • the structure of the award and how it can be delivered
  • curriculum links and expected outcomes
  • the teaching materials
  • examples of community projects carried out by pupils
  • the support provided by the YLA team

All webinars run from 4pm – 4.40pm and will be recorded.
