The Big Give 2021

Empowering young people with leadership, character and social action to transform society.

The Archbishop of York Youth Trust needs your support as we seek to empower young people to transform society.

We believe that by giving children and young people the opportunity to put their character, leadership, and faith into action, they will thrive in their school setting, at home and in their community. We do this through our Young Leaders Awards.

This week, every donation you make to the Youth Trust through The Big Give is doubled.

“We’re just children but we can make a difference.”

KS2 Young Leader

For this year’s The Big Give campaign we’re asking you to support the Youth Trust as we empower young people in the north of England to transform their communities.

The Youth Trust’s work develops children and young people’s leadership, character, and faith, and provides an essential and creative space for discussions, learning and action, that help to build foundations for later life. We believe that by giving children and young people the opportunity to put their character, leadership, and faith into action, they will thrive in their school setting, at home and in their community.

Our work has become even more important due to the pandemic, which saw a significant rise in mental health issues in children and young people, as we help to re-build young people’s confidence and wellbeing. By empowering young people to speak up and out about the issues of concern to them, and to know how they can take action, we let young people know their opinion matters.

The Youth Trust are giving young people the opportunity to be heard. Through our work, we have seen young people standing up for what they believe in, passionately campaign to combat the climate crisis, actively stand against racism and more.

We are passionate about supporting young people to be the best versions of themselves, so they can transform society.

Aims

Through The Big Give this year, we aim to empower 500 Young Leaders across the north of England to be agents of change in their communities, through learning and practising key leadership skills and character virtues. Through learning these skills and virtues, these children and young people will then make positive change within their communities, as they see where there is most need.

The Young Leaders Award will help them to feel more connected to their local communities, and not only gain them life experiences, but the benefit is two-fold, as the local communities are supported at the same time. Research shows that this learning often leads to volunteering in the future within their communities and, as they get older, gain a stronger understanding of how they can make positive changes to those around them.

We are passionate about supporting young people to be the best versions of themselves that they can be, so they can transform society.

We long to see character education as more than just an added bonus to the curriculum.

We long to educate the whole child.

We long to make the world a better place for everyone.

Help us to empower young people to be the change they want to see.
